Honest questions first
Can your schedule handle timed medication? Your budget handle the condition's vet care? Your household handle the management (gates, routines, quiet)? A special-needs adoption that fails is another loss for an animal who's had enough of them.
What surprises people
Blind pets map homes within days. Deaf dogs learn hand signals faster than most dogs learn words. Tripods run. The adaptation you're worried about is usually already done — animals live in the present tense.
The payoff
