The lines you’ll see

A typical price list splits into cremation type (individual or communal), priced in weight bands, plus optional extras: collection, urn or casket choices, paw prints, and sometimes a rush fee. The headline price is almost always the cremation alone — the total is what matters.

Weight bands are the usual structure: under 10kg, 10–25kg, 25–40kg, and 40kg-plus, with the price rising at each step.

The questions that reveal the true cost

Ask these five: Is collection included or extra? Is a basic urn included? Is there an after-hours or weekend surcharge? Is there a handling fee if my vet arranges it? And for individual — how do you guarantee the ashes are my pet’s? The answers turn a headline price into a real total.

If any answer is vague, that’s worth noting. A clear operator has clear answers.

Comparing like with like

When comparing two quotes, make sure both are for the same cremation type and both include collection and the urn — otherwise you’re comparing a bare price against an all-in one.
