Planning Ahead: A Gentle End-of-Life Checklist for Pet Parents

Why plan while things are calm

In a crisis, families make rushed choices they sometimes regret — a stressful final car ride, an aftercare option they didn't want. An hour of calm planning protects your pet and your heart from decisions made in panic.

Know your options and numbers

Find out now: does your vet offer home visits? Is there an in-home euthanasia provider nearby? What do private cremation, communal cremation, and aquamation cost in your area? Write it down somewhere the whole family can find.

Decide your wishes

Where would you want it to happen? Who should be present? Ashes back or not? A paw print? Talking through these once, gently, means nobody has to negotiate them through tears later.

Let someone handle the logistics

On the day itself, the phone calls, scheduling, and aftercare coordination shouldn't fall on the person whose heart is breaking.

Something with their name on it

We press your pet’s name onto a small paw print keychain by hand, in one of ten colours, and post it anywhere in South Africa. R299 plus R73 delivery, or two for R449 delivered free.
