Small Fluffy Breeds: Pomeranian, Shih Tzu and Maltese Cremation Costs
Long lives, small bodies
Pomeranians, Shih Tzus and Maltese frequently reach 14–16. Collapsing trachea, dental disease, heart valve degeneration and luxating patellas dominate the senior years. A small fluffy dog with a honking cough is showing you a tracheal problem and it is worth investigating rather than accepting.
Cremation costs
At 3–7kg these are the cheapest cremation bracket in South Africa: roughly R1,100–R2,000 for individual cremation with ashes returned, R400–R900 communal, plus R250–R500 home collection. Note that collection can cost nearly as much as the cremation itself for a very small dog.
Coat volume is misleading
A fluffy 4kg dog returns a small amount of ash — often a cup or less — because ash volume tracks bone, not fur. Owners frequently worry the amount looks too small for the dog they remember. It is normal, and it is the same for every crematorium.
A lock of that coat
With long-coated breeds the fur is the most recognisable keepsake there is. Clip from the chest before collection. Every Ease The Paw coordination includes setting a lock into a leather paw keyring, handed over on the day.
Something with their name on it
We press your pet’s name onto a small paw print keychain by hand, in one of ten colours, and post it anywhere in South Africa. R299 plus R73 delivery, or two for R449 delivered free.
