Three very different sizes

A miniature schnauzer at 6–8kg, a standard at 15–20kg and a giant at 35–45kg sit in three completely different cremation brackets. Miniatures run roughly R1,300–R2,100 for individual cremation with ashes returned; standards R1,800–R2,900; giants R2,600–R4,400. Collection adds R250–R800 depending on size and distance.

Breed-linked conditions

Miniature schnauzers are strongly associated with pancreatitis, high blood lipids, bladder stones and diabetes. Giants face the usual large-breed cancers and cardiac disease. A miniature schnauzer with repeated vomiting and abdominal pain is a pancreatitis case until proven otherwise, and repeated bouts shorten lives.

The long decline

Miniatures frequently reach 13–15, which means many owners face a long, managed decline with medication and diet control before the final decision. Keep a weekly record of good days versus bad; over months the trend tells you far more than any single afternoon.

Home or clinic

A small schnauzer who travels calmly is fine at a clinic with a quiet appointment slot. A giant who can no longer walk is a strong candidate for a home visit. Ask for sedation before the final injection in either case.
