Bull terriers and staffie crosses commonly reach 12–14. Kidney disease is over-represented in bull terriers specifically, and mast cell tumours are frequent across the group. Deafness and heart problems appear in some lines. A dog of this type who has become suddenly quiet or has stopped eating warrants bloodwork, not patience.

Cremation costs

The strength question

These are powerfully built dogs and awkward to move, even at moderate weight. Use a blanket as a stretcher with two people, or book a collection. Do not try to carry a 20kg muscular dog down a flight of stairs on your own.

Their reputation and your grief

Owners of bully-type dogs frequently report that people are less sympathetic about their loss, as though the dog mattered less. That is nonsense and you do not have to absorb it. The grief is exactly the same size as anyone else's.
