Puppies
A Realistic Daily Puppy Schedule (Hour by Hour)
The nap math
Young puppies need 18–20 hours of sleep a day. Most 'crazy' biting, zooming evening puppies are simply overtired toddlers. Enforced naps in a crate or pen aren't cruel — they're the missing ingredient in most chaotic households.
A copyable rhythm
Wake–toilet–breakfast–play/train (15 min)–toilet–nap (1.5–2h) — and repeat that loop through the day, with meals woven in and the last toilet trip right before bed. Toilet after every sleep, meal, drink and play, always.
Alone-time on purpose
Schedule short daily alone sessions in the pen with a chew — even while you're home — from week one. Puppies that never practice solitude become adults that can't handle it.
Flexible, not rigid
The clock times matter less than the sequence and predictability. A puppy who can forecast their day relaxes into it — and a family working one shared schedule (on the fridge, assign names to slots) avoids both gaps and double-feeding.
If the day is coming
Ease The Paw coordinates in-home pet euthanasia across South Africa — we find and book the vet, arrange the cremation and handle the keepsakes, so you can simply be present. A flat R950 covers the coordination and your keepsake memorial; the vet and cremation are billed separately at their own rates.
