What actually happens, step by step
An SAVC-registered mobile veterinarian comes to your home at a time you choose. Sedation is offered as standard, so your pet drifts into a calm sleep in their own bed before the final injection is given — unhurried, unafraid, and surrounded by their people. Afterwards, we handle everything: the collection, the individual cremation if you choose it, the keepsakes, and the ashes home to you.
You do not phone around for quotes, chase a crematorium, or organise transport. That is the entire point of what we do.
What in-home euthanasia costs in South Africa
Most families pay roughly R3,200–R7,200 in total. That is made up of the vet’s own fee (about R1,200–R3,500 for a home visit, versus R450–R1,500 at a clinic), cremation if chosen (R400–R900 communal, or R1,200–R3,500 individual with ashes returned), and our flat R950 coordination fee — which covers finding and booking the vet, coordinating the cremation, your fur keepsake memorial, and support throughout. If we cannot arrange a vet in your area, the fee is refunded in full.

There is rarely one obvious moment. Vets weigh pain, appetite, hydration, mobility and the balance of good days against bad ones. Our free seven-question quality-of-life assessment takes about three minutes, and you can print the result and take it to your vet.

For anxious pets, giant breeds and cats especially, home is simply kinder — though a clinic goodbye is a perfectly good choice too, and we can arrange either.

Is Ease The Paw a veterinary practice?
No — we are a coordination service. All clinical care is performed by independent, SAVC-registered veterinarians who set their own fees and are paid directly by you. We arrange the vet, the cremation, the transport and the keepsakes.
How quickly can a home visit happen?
In our live areas, often within a day — and for a pet who is suffering, we treat it as urgent and phone the network immediately. Tell us your suburb and what is happening, and we will give you an honest timeline in minutes.
Will my pet feel anything?
With sedation given first, your pet falls into a calm, deep sleep before the final injection, which is an overdose of anaesthetic. What they experience is falling asleep at home with their family beside them.
Can my children and other pets be there?
Yes, if you want them to be. Many families let the other animals see and sniff afterwards — it genuinely helps surviving pets settle. For children, honest and simple is best; we have a full guide on deciding by age.
